I’M A 49ER FAN and don’t need a road trip planner to drive the 37 miles to Candlestick Park in San Francisco to watch my men in red & gold. I didn’t go to their Superbowl games either because I always held a huge party at home with TVs in every room (including the bathrooms). And when their 5-time winning streak ended & the 49ers slipped on their Astroturf, I turned to Fantasy Football. I did well, but not nearly as well as my nephew, who, after I threw down the gauntlet & bet him $10 that I’d place higher than him by season’s end, promptly picked up that gauntlet & slapped me silly with it because he went on to an end-zone win of the $20,000 grand prize, while I was left to console myself with winning a free entry into next year’s season, worth a whopping $30.

But now I’m thinking maybe it’s time to enter the next level of Football Fandom. I use my trusty road trip planner to plan my summer vacations, weekend getaways, anniversary trips, family gatherings, even my girlfriend getaways…why not a Football Road Trip?

AWAY GAMES: It would be a blast to go on a road trip to cheer my team on against one of their historical rivals. In my case, it would mean traveling to St. Louis, Missouri to battle the Rams, which would actually be a great road trip choice because I could stay with family there & could bunk with them. Plus, St. Louis is a great destination offering many things to do. So check your own team’s schedules; a football road trip may be the perfect excuse to visit a city you’ve always wanted to explore anyway. Here’s your chance to visit the homes of the Seattle Seahawks, or the Philadelphia Eagles.

YOUR FAVORITE TEAM IS IN ANOTHER STATE: I’m within one hour’s drive of my team’s home field but I have friends whose favorite teams are the Dallas Cowboys or the Green Bay Packers. It’s lonely to shout out your team’s name in a sea of opposite-minded fans. Or be the only Cheesehead in your section. So plan a road trip there and be surrounded by fans who will actually return a High-5 when your team scores.

SPECIAL FOOTBALL DESTINATIONS: Actually, now that I’m talking myself into an actual road trip, I shouldn’t restrict myself to just my team’s away games. I could use my road trip planner to plot out my route to the Pro Football Hall of Fame Canton, Ohio. Or visit the home city of the ONLY OTHER two 5-Time Superbowl Champions, Dallas or Pittsburgh (sorry, couldn’t resist that little nod to the 49er Glory Days).

SPECIAL EVENT GAMES: Get your friends together and have a great time planning a road trip to one of the following events:* The Super Bowl XLIII will be in Tampa Bay, Florida on February 1, 2009* The 2009 Pro Bowl is in Honolulu, Hawaii on February 8, 2009

FOR THE COLLEGE FOOTBALL ENTHUSIASTS: Do your road trip planning around these events:* 2009 Rose Bowl is in Pasadena, California, on January 1, 2009* 2009 Orange Bowl is at the Dolphin Stadium in Miami, Florida on January 1, 2009* 2009 Sugar Bowl is at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans on January 2, 2009* 2009 Fiesta Bowl will be at the University of Phoenix Stadium (a $450 million state-of-the-art complex ) in Glendale, Arizona on January 5, 2009* 2009 BCS Championship Game will be held in Miami, Florida on January 8, 2009

All this talk of football road trips is revving me up! In fact, I’m making a commitment right here and now. If the 49ers make it back to the Superbowl again, wherever it is, I’ll use my road trip planner to get me there. Ready, set, hut, hut, hike!

Planning your annual holiday trip is important to most of us as it is the time when we take time to look after ourselves after working hard all year long. Some of us travel more frequently and whether you are planning a single trip or have more than one holiday per year you will probably want to make sure you have adequate travel insurance cover in the unfortunate event that you need to make a claim against your travel insurance.

Unfortunately many people often forget to buy travel insurance before they go on holiday and it is not until you run into problems that you realise how important it would have been to have obtained a travel insurance policy in the first place. The main reason people forget to buy travel insurance is because it can take a lot of time and effort to find the right travel insurance policy and that coupled with arranging the holiday itself either puts people off or travel insurance becomes an oversight.

    Related Coverage

     Travel Guide – Travel Insurance

Travel Insurance is probably one of the most overlooked aspects of preparing for a trip. Getting the right insurance cover is very important. Travel Insurance

Are you planning a long vacation abroad or within your country? Splendid! Have you ever though that Travel Insurance? Travel Insurance For Oldies

Many of the older generation are envious of today’s young people’s gap years spent traveling the globe and seeing different countries and cultures. Many have to wait until they are senior citizens before they have an opportunity to travel, and even if they don’t want to back-pack around India, they often find that getting insurance is a real problem. Travel Insurance – Over 70

Are you over 70 thinking about going traveling in the next couple of years? You should ensure that you get travel insurance over 70 for your health coverage. Travel insurance for seniors is specially designed to meet the need of the demographic.Besides who wants to think about insurance when they are planning a holiday?

Insurance is not the most exciting thing we can occupy our time with but it does offer peace of mind and is a great help to us when we need it most therefore anyone considering travelling should make insurance a priority especially if you and your family are travelling together. Besides, children are often covered for free if they are dependents of the policy holder and are under 18 years of age.

One way of overcoming the boring task of buying travel insurance is to buy a single premium policy or annual travel insurance which allows you to take many holidays which are all covered by one insurance policy. There are always different levels of cover and it is important to check with your travel insurer to find out what length of holiday your insurance policy will cover.
For instance, if you are going away for 6 weeks and your annual travel policy on covers vacations of up to 3 or 4 weeks duration, you will find yourself uninsured which will leave you high and dry. Most travel insurance companies will offer up to 4 options for the duration of trip and it is important that you select the most appropriate option for yourself.

Another advantage of annual travel insurance is that if you enjoy winter sports, you can ask your insurer if they have a winter sports option so you will be covered for those holiday trips as well. There will generally be an additional premium for this but when you bear in mind that winter sports do have a higher risk of injury associated with them, then you will begin to understand the sense in taking out the winter sports option.

Another point to consider when taking out a travel insurance policy is what exclusions and excesses apply. Many travel insurers have a blanket exclusion to cover acts of terrorism. It is worth checking with your insurer what their position on this is prior to purchasing your travel insurance policy. Also the compulsory excess may vary from insurer to insurer. This may affect the travel insurance premium you are quoted when obtaining an insurance quote. Remember, in the event of a travel insurance claim, you will be expected to pay the excess so it is worthwhile considering if this is acceptable to you. The best thing to do is obtain a number of travel insurance quotes especially if you are thinking of buying an annual travel insurance single premium policy. Then compare what each insurer offers so you know which one offers you the best deal.

With large workloads, hectic schedules, and children, many couples need a break from their daily routines. This break often comes in the form of a romantic getaway. If you and your partner are searching your next romantic adventure, you may want to examine the possibility of taking a cruise.

When it comes to romantic getaways, there are many who dont even consider a cruise ship as an option. However, there are others who literally live for cruises. These couples are likely to take two or more cruises each year. Whether youve been on a cruise ship before or not, it is possible for you and your partner to have a romantic cruise ship getaway.

Before booking a cruise ship getaway, you are encouraged to consider a number of factors. These factors are important when planning a romantic getaway aboard a cruise ship. There are a number of different cruises ships and cruises lines. You may be unable to enjoy a romantic vacation if you are on a cruise ship that is overrun with children.

If you are interested in having an intimate, relaxing, and romantic cruise, you are encouraged to search for a cruise ship that has an age limit for its passengers. These cruise ships often restrict children from coming aboard. Many times, cruise ships with a passenger age limit target their voyages specifically to couples looking for romance.

While it is possible to find a cruise ship with an age limit for their passengers, you may find it a bit difficult. If you are unable to find one, inquire as to where couples with children will be placed. A number of popular cruise ships work to keep families and individual couples separated. If this policy is in place, a cruise line is likely to state the policy on their website. The same information can be obtained by directly contacting a cruise ship representative.

The size of the cruise ship you are interested in vacationing on is also likely to determine the level of intimacy onboard. If it is intimacy that you want, a smaller cruise ship may be your best bet. Larger cruises ships have more passages and more passengers often make it difficult to have onboard, private moments. A number of romantic cruise lines target their smaller cruise ships to couples looking to vacation alone.

In addition to the size of the ship, the ships style and dcor may determine whether or not you can experience romance onboard. As previously mentioned, there are a number of cruise lines that target couples looking to vacation alone. Part of that targeting may include creating a romantic environment. On romance themed cruise ships, you may find romantic cabins, room service, and other similar services.

Vacationing aboard a cruise ship is a great way for you and your partner to spend quality time together. When selecting a cruise ship to vacation on, the intimacy off the ship is just as important as on the ship. Almost all extended cruise ships dock in a port. These ports are often located in another country, but not always. To make the most out of your vacation destination, you will want to consider a cruise line that offers stops in romantic ports. These ports may include, but are not limited to the Bahamas, Hawaii, or the Caribbean.

The Bahamas, Hawaii, and the Caribbean all have a number of cruise ship ports. Additional ports can be found in the Untied States and overseas. What many passengers enjoy about these particular ports is their climate. The climate and the overall weather could have an impact on the romance aboard your ship. Tropical weather tends to add to the romance in the air.

Cruises ships are often viewed as large, oversized vessels. In addition to traditional cruise ships, it is possible for you to take a local cruise. If you are looking for a romantic getaway, but you fear the cost of an expensive cruise, you are encouraged to look into local cruises offered near your home. These cruises often involve dinner, dancing, and sometimes an overnight stay. They most often occur on a large river or a lake.

Now that you know what to look for when booking reservations for a romantic getaway aboard a cruise ship, you can start making preparations. With a small amount of time and research, you could be sailing the seas in luxury, with the one that you love.

If you have a road trip planned around the United Kingdom but don’t know what the very best routes to take are, then consider your call for help answered! We have put together a list of 5 great Road Trips around the UK that you should really think about taking. Check out our guide for more about the majestic scenery and attractions you will come across throughout your trip…

London to Brighton Road TripThis is a road trip whereby you can reach your destination in around a couple of hours, especially if you are coming from London’s centre. Brighton is due south from London, and around 90km from the city. To get there, the best route is to go south of the Thames and take the A23 South. You will be magically transformed from the busy city life to the freedom and peacefulness of the countryside as you hit the Weald Countryside of West Sussex, and then the South Downs.

After a while the A23 becomes the M23 and you will be travelling along the coast to Brighton, which received city status in 2000. Often called “London by the Sea”, Brighton has come a long way since it was notorious for the violent clashes between “Mods and Rockers” in the Sixties. It is now a place of trendy bars, cafes and restaurants, and a fashionable place to go shopping! The Lanes is a shopper’s haven. Brighton is a great destination to chill out in after a drive from London. The Royal Pavillion and Brighton Pier are two landmarks well worth checking out here!

Norfolk Coast Road TripIf you want peace and quiet – then a road trip around the Norfolk coast is exactly what the doctor ordered! To get there from Norwich, take the A47 to Kings Lynn. The drive from Kings Lynn to Cromer along the A149 is quite magnificent, and is famous for the nature reserves of Cley and Titchwell. If you have time, why not take the B1355 inland to the cornfield turned into a maze at Compton Hall!

The rural and rugged beauty of the Norfolk Coast cannot be underestimated. Many of the beaches along the coast are empty hideouts where solitude is the order of the day. What could be better than to stop off an empty beach with miles of sand, salt marshes, and forests.

If you are planning on staying around, the North coast is an area perfect for activities such as rambling and cycling. Or if you are driving in the area, make sure you check out the stunning villages composed of flint-built cottages, craft shops and galleries, and country pubs.

The Cotswolds Road Trip The Cotswolds is renowned for its majestic scenery, and is one of the most visited regions in the UK. It is famous for its village buildings made from limestone and adorned with ivy! Located in primarily rural setting, you will be astounded by the scenery including the Cotswold Hills, and charming towns such as Gloucester, Cirencester, Tewkesbury and the racing mecca of Cheltenham.

If you are travelling from east or west, get onto the M4 to the number 17 junction. After this, you will take the A429 to the north and make your way towards Cirencester. Why not drop off here and have a look around the pretty town and be charmed by its rural air. After here, take the A417 east and make your way to Fairford. From here, veer left to the Southrop, and make your way through the charming locations of Hatherop and Coln Saint Aldwyn. You never know, you might see some celebrities whizzing along the road in their sports cars, as actress Liz Hurley and model Kate Moss own properties in this region!

After reaching Barnsley, you get onto the A429 and head north to Bourton. After here, take a right to Westcote, which is the home of Oscar winner Kate Winslet.

The road from Westcote takes you to Stow on the Wold and keep on the A429 to Moreton in Marsh. It’s rumoured that this route has been in existence since the time of the Roman occupation of Britain. This road will bring you right back to the M40 thus completing your tour of the Cotswolds!

Yorkshire Moors Road Trip If you are looking for a bit of escapism, why not consider a Yorkshire Road Trip? Probably the best place to start off at is Leeds, which is now a great city for shopping and nightlife! From Leeds take the A64 road to York and then Malton. Get onto the A169 and make your way to Pickering. From Pickering you are on the route to the renowned Yorkshire Moors. If you take the A169 heading north, you will come across some really inspiring scenery. Some call it bleak, others call it majestic! From the Moors you will make your way to Whitby where you can sample some delightful freshly catched fish!

From here, take the A171 west, and pass through the charming villages of Stonegate, Castleton and Hutton le Hole and then onto Kirkbymoorside. You could stop off in places like Helmsley or Thirk or indeed any of the delightful villages in Yorkshire – some of them are exactly like Emmerdale are!

Scottish Highlands Road Trip A round trip of the Scottish Highlands area is around 400 miles and can be spread over 4-5 days, but its well worth it for its rugged scenery and the beauty of the countryside! If you are starting in Edinburgh, you will take the Forth Bridge Crossing, and take the M90 to Perth. From Perth take the A9 route and take a trip to the Blair Athol Whiskey Distillery which is to the south of Pitlochry, where you could spend the night, and the following day take the A9 through the Grampian Mountains to Inverness. Wonderful views await you here.

On the third day you could take the A96 to Elgin, and you can take a trip to the Glenfiddich Distillery at Dufftown. And if you sample some of the local produce, make sure to stay overnight here! The fourth day of your trek across the beautiful Scottish Highlands will take you on the B9009 to Glenlivet and its distillery, and then the A939, A93 and B974 to Fettercairn. Then you will take the A90 home.

A road trip through the Scottish Highlands is an unforgettable experience – you will explore the scenic beauty of moutain ranges, wonderful lochs and exciting wildlife. If you are coming from Glasgow you could also take the A82 and then the A83 to Inverary.

When considering the size of Alaska, a road trip planner will invariably ask if Alaska can truly be explored in one road trip. Alaska offers vast mountains, colossal blue-white glaciers and an abundance of wildlife with activities unique to the state; this combination earns an Alaskan Road Trip top honors in travelers’ memory books.

For most road trip planners, their itinerary will start with flight plans. Most people flying in will land in Anchorage. At this point, they’ll either rent a car and stay in hotels along the way (reserved in advance of course!) or they’ll rent an RV to explore Alaska at their own pace (with their itinerary allowing impromptu exploration options).

After exploring Anchorage’s offerings, many place the city of Tok as a destination in their road trip planner because it helps create a good triangle for your road trip. Tok is known as the “Sled Dog Capital of Alaska”. Plan on 5 ½ hours driving time from Anchorage but I know you’ll stop – even spend a day or two – around the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. Get ready for the largest and most magnificent of the National Parks of Alaska, with 9 of the 16 highest peaks in the United States. This mountain region contains numerous glaciers, lakes and mountain streams and is home to a rich variety of wild life. It is superb country for climbers, walkers and water sports enthusiasts.

Fairbanks would be the third point of your trip triangle to add to your road trip planner (Anchorage to Tok to Fairbanks). Some travelers start their Alaskan Road Trip by flying in to Fairbanks, so for them, their trip triangle would be Fairbanks, Anchorage, Tok. Fairbanks is second biggest city of Alaska and has the all the amenities of an urban community. The Gold Rush Street at Pioneer Park was a replica but a real operating gold mine exists in this proud city. Visit the Museum of the North, take a river trip for half-day cruise through the Chena and Tanana Rivers. In the summer, the Riverboat Discovery Tour runs twice a day. Trip reservations are a must so make the necessary arrangements ahead of time.

Leaving Fairbanks, include the impressive Denali National Park in your road trip planner before hitting Anchorage. Denali contains Mount McKinley, the tallest mountain in North America and is definitely worthy of some heavy-duty exploration.

A four- to six-hour drive down south from Denali National Park, passing through Talkeetna, you’ll reach the town of Wasilla. Have your camera at the ready because moose or bear sightings along the way are often part of the journey. For canoeing experience, go to the Nancy Lake Recreation Area. There are plenty of cabins to rent for overnight stays. Further south, visit the Big Lake for swimming, camping, jet-ski and fishing. Proceed to Mat-Su Valley and drop by Iditarod Trail Headquarters on Knik Road. Learn some history at Knik Museum and the Sled Dog Musher’s Hall of Fame.

Another town to add to your road trip planner is Palmer, only 15 minutes away from Wasilla. There is a great RV campground here as well as some cool farms like the Musk Ox Farm. Best time to be here is in late August when the Alaska State Fair is celebrated.

Leave another day in your road trip planner to explore more of Anchorage. It has plenty of hiking opportunities, cultural events and art exhibits. The Flattop Mountain and Chugach State Park are the city’s pride together with Alaska Zoo and Potter Marsh, a bird and wildlife sanctuary.

If you have more time, add another leg of your road trip by driving along the Seward Highway, designated as the All-American Road, and enjoy the scenic view. Picnic opportunities are everywhere, and the picture perfect backdrop is hard to resist. Fishing, camping and canoeing activities in the Kenai/Soldotna area are nice options too.

I’ve shared one road trip example, but customize yours to reflect your own Dream Alaskan Trip. Below are some tips to help you get the most out of your trip.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO…?* See the Northern Lights; plan on coming either late fall and early spring.* Enjoy the Midnight Sun; put June 21st in the middle of your road trip planning.* Go whale watching; head to Alaska anytime from mid-May through mid-September.* View the most wildlife; summer-time will get you sightings of moose, bear, mountain sheep, caribou, coyote, wolves, sheep, beaver, otter, mink, or hare. In addition, birdwatchers can photo-capture eagles, hawks, jays, owls, spruce hens, grouse, and ptarmigan and migratory waterfowl coming north to nest each summer.

Make this the year you go wild with your road trip planning and head North to Alaska for a trip of a lifetime.

a harbor that houses some of the biggest yachts, Newport
Beach California is truly an amazing place. Perfectly
situated in Orange County, Newport Beach can be considered
both relaxing and ritzy.

The harbor features many small islands and also houses
several museums and attractions like the Newport Pier. As
far as things to do here, surfing, volleyball, and romantic
walks along the pier can help to fill the void. Surfing is
quite renowned here, as surfers can get truly bone shattering
waves from the boats that go by.

Nightlife at the Beach is no secret either, as there are
many different restaurants and clubs. During the day, there
are many different amusement parks and arcade games. For
the kids, Newport Beach is truly an amazing vacation.

Those of you who want to visit the past, shouldn’t hesitate
to visit the Balboa Pavilion, which was built in 1904. The
Pavilion houses many dances, and still proves to be an
inspiring Victorian structure – even to this very day.

For a tourist attraction or just a place to get away from the
pressure of life, Newport Beach is breathtaking. The harbor
has something for everyone, even the hard to please.

Alive with the sea and plenty of activities for all
that visit, Pacific Beach is a great place. With plenty
of activities to offer visitors, Pacific Beach in San
Diego has seen well over 26 million visitors! With
numbers like these, you know you really can’t go wrong
by visiting.

Aside from the wonders of the beach, the boutique
shopping distric of Pacific Beach features hundreds and
hundreds of choices to find treasure in the sand. With
local names such as the L.A. Rack and Starbucks, this is
truly a shoppers paradise. There are also new and retail
clothing stores, salons, and many other stores to be
found here in this shopping paradise.

When it comes to the nightlife and exquisite dining,
Pacific Beach has it all covered. The restaurant experience
here is as diverse as the undersea life. You can find
everything here from fusion Thai to gourmet pasta, seafood
to hamburgers and virtually everything in between.

When the sun starts to set and the tide changes, the
Pacific Beach seems to come to life. There are dozens of
nighttime high spots with dancing, live music, and some of
the best beach bars in California. With most being found
within walking distance of the hotels, Pacific Beach does
it’s part to simplify your experience.

Arguably the best feature to Pacific Beach is the golden
sands that California is so very well known for. The beach
and the Ocean Front Boardwalk are both modest in their
approach to offer bike and board rental stores, beach-
front dining with great views, and plenty of green
parks for you to experience.

Being out on the sand, you can experience the thrill of
horseshoes, the hot girls, dolphins playing in the water,
and endless surf competitions in the summer. The summer
is definately a little bit hotter when you are sitting in
the ocean at Pacific Beach with your toes in the sand.

With Mission Bay Park and the Historic Crystal Pier nearby,
you’ll always find something to do here. Mission Bay is a
public park, offering the world famous Sea World, with
plenty of amusement park rides, undersea wildlife to see,
and plenty of fine dining.

On the other hand, the Historic Crystal Pier offers a
taste of Southern California reinvented. A walk along
the pier can bring back a taste of days gone by, coupled
with the lifestyle that only California can bring.

With a taste of the ocean and everthing in between, Pacific
Beach makes for a great and unforgettable summer. Offering
plenty of shops, fine dining, and California sand, this is
one area of San Diego that should be visited – time and
time again!

There are a massive amount of travel deals to sift through online so finding the best bargains can be an overwhelming task. Here are 5 tips that will help you make the most of the time you spend searching for deals online.
1. Be Flexible
It is essential to be flexible about your travel plans if you want to increase the odds of landing the best deals. Whether that means flying on a different airline, departing from a different airport than usual, or being open to changing your travel time or date, flexibility will make a big difference in savings. The cheapest airfares usually require a Saturday-night stay and many last-minute airfares are posted on the internet on Wednesdays. You can also save a lot more money if you travel early in the morning or late at night when airports are less congested.
2. Be Aware of Restrictions and Hidden Fees
If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Related Coverage
Travel Advice To Find Great Travel Deals Online

Follow these simple steps and you will find that perfect vacation for an affordable price. It may take some time but, wouldn’t you rather take the extra time and save money? Finding the Best Travel Deal

Searching for travel shouldn’t be a chore. Many times most of us will visit our favorite search engine, type in what we are looking for and then take what’s listed. This of course is a major mistake. Help in Finding the Best Travel Insurance Deals on the Internet

The first thing you need to decide upon before buying travel insurance is where you will be going on your holiday. There are several types of travel insurance offers and some are specific to certain holidays, such as… The Truth About Discounted Air Travel Deals

Cheap air travel is really the best way to go these days. Bid farewell to high rates and say hello to visiting your dream destinations.Find out if there are any strings attached before you purchase a travel package or flight ticket. For example, many airfare deal listings do not include taxes, which could raise the price as much as 50%. Some important questions you may want to ask before purchasing flight tickets is whether taxes are include, how much the fees are, and if it would be possible to change your ticket if necessary. Many people don’t realize that it can cost $7 to $30 extra to purchase flight tickets online. E-tickets make it easier to check in because all you need to do is provide your confirmation number and picture ID. However, you have to pay a little extra for that convenience.
3. Travel During Shoulder Season
Shoulder season is the two to four week period before or after peak travel season.
You can still enjoy the great weather and other perks that make a destination popular during peak season without dealing with the high prices and crowds that are associated with it. Hotel rates and car rental rates are substantially lower during shoulder season. By traveling during shoulder season, you can save 25% to 35% on travel.
4. Make Your Travel Plans Far in Advance
There are plenty of great last-minute bargains to be had but some people’s travel plans just aren’t flexible enough for them to just take whatever deals they manage to get at the last moment. If you are traveling during peak season, make sure to make your travel plans far in advance because waiting until the last moment can cost you a lot of money. Typically, domestic flight prices start going up 21 days prior to the date of departure so try to purchase your tickets before then. If you are traveling internationally, buy your tickets at least three to six months in advance.
5. Subscribe to Last-Minute Alerts on Travel Deals
You can be one of the first people to get access to great bargains if you subscribe to alerts on a website that publishes a steady flow of deals on travel. There are online travel portals that publish deals from a variety of different sources so you can comparison shop without having to visit many different websites.
